Important Tax Information Regarding Your Financial Donation

Your generous donations to the MACE Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

In order to claim a charitable deduction to the MACE Foundation on your income tax return, your electronic contribution must have been received by 11:00 p.m. EST on December 31st. Donations made by check and submitted by U.S. mail must have been postmarked by December 31st.

We routinely provide documentation for tax purposes to all donors who contribute at least $250 via cash, check, credit card, or stock gifts. (For such contributions under $250, you may request a tax receipt by sending an email to info@themacefoundation.org. Please provide your name, address, approximate date of contribution and amount.) You should expect to receive your tax receipt by U.S. mail no later than January 31st for contributions made by 11:00 p.m. on December 31st of the prior year or postmarked by December 31st of the prior year. The IRS requires that gifts made through payroll deduction be documented through earnings statement(s) provided by your employer, along with a copy of your pledge card. Donor Privacy Policy

We value the trust each donor places in our organization and mission.  The MACE Foundation adheres to the highest standards in gathering, using, and safeguarding your information. We do not rent, sell or trade donor information to any third parties.

The information you or your employer provides to us is used to help us in fundraising campaigns; to process and receipt your donation; and to respond to any of your requests. We also use your information to send acknowledgement of your gift information and to provide information about our work which we think you may find of interest. If you do not wish to receive such communications, you may let us know at any time by contacting the MACE office. In addition, every e-newsletter message you receive from MACE will include instructions on how to unsubscribe. 

We do not provide donor information to third parties except under the following conditions: 

Public Recognition - There are times when we publicly recognize and thank donors, volunteers and other stakeholders for their generosity. If you prefer to remain anonymous, please indicate this when completing your pledge form. As required by law, MACE will release information when we are required to comply with local, state or federal court orders. Audit Committee

The MACE Foundation’s audit committee provides independent assistance to the board of directors in the oversight of: accuracy and integrity of our financial statements; compliance with legal and regulatory requirements; the appointment and remuneration of external auditors; the effectiveness of our internal and external audit functions; accounting processes, principles, and reporting. The audit committee will consist of at least three members of the board of directors who meet the independence requirements of the Sarbanes Oxley Act 2002. At least one member must meet the “financial expert” requirements of the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002, and the other members must be financially literate. Committee members may not serve on an audit committee of another public company without the approval of the MACE board of directors.

Finance and Administration Committee

MACE’s finance and administration committee will meet a minimum of once a year, not including any special call meeting by the chair of the MACE Foundation. Members of the committee will: develop and review financial and administrative policies; assist with the development and oversight of the annual budget, provide recommendations regarding property and equipment needs; review and make recommendations on office space lease; review needs and make recommendations for technological upgrades, as necessary, to the board of directors; review financial policies and make any needed recommendations for additions or changes in light of new regulations for nonprofit organizations; review personnel policies and procedures and make recommendations for revisions; review our bylaws and make recommendations to the board of directors; and review insurance policies for adequate coverage and costs, as necessary.
